Ahead of the 2019 female AITEO Federation’s Cup final between Nasarawa Amazons FC versus Rivers Angels of Port-Harcourt on Sunday, 28th July, 2019, slated for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, the Nasarawa State Government is sending a high power delegation to kaduna state to cheer the state women football team, the Nasarawa Amazons.

The delegation will led by Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe. The state is leaving nothing astray to ensure that Nasarawa Amazons, return home with the coveted trophy.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule on Youth Development and NGOs’ Matters, Kwanta Yakubu, disclosed this when he was addressing newsmen at the Deputy Governor’s Office earlier today. According to the SSA,

“As you are very much aware, Nasarawa Amazons are one of the formidable female clubsides in the country, with arrays of national teams’ products and technical crew.

“They have been making the State and entire northern nigeria proud as they are the only team from the entire northern region that make accelerated progress in women’s football in Nigeria”, he began.

Honourable Kwanta Yakubu who, before his appointment as SSA, was twice Chairman of Akwanga Council Area of Nasarawa State, added that the State is confident of the Amazons wherever they find themselves, stressing that the same winning spirit which has been in the team will equally be there during the final against Rivers Angels on Sunday, and optimistic that the Solid Babes would ice the cake before the completion of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s first One Hundred Days in office by winning the AITEO CUP.

He revealed that due to the importance the State Government places on the AITEO CUP final, the Governor has directed the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, to lead a high-powered delegation from the State, made up of former Deputy Governors, former Commissioners, former Legislators, all serving Council chairmen, Members of the State’s House of Assembly, Special Advisers, Government Functionaries, and other Critical Stakeholders to the venue of the final to cheer the team to victory.

The outspoken Senior Special Assistant charged Nasarawa Amazons to play to victory as the State Government has special packages for them on the attainment of victory against Rivers Angels.

“If they(the Amazons) win the AITEO CUP trophy, they should be assured of great packages readily available for them.

“The State Government has made a very strong statement, but I don’t want to disclose it for now. But, am assuring them that if they bring the trophy home, everybody will smile”, Kwanta reassured.

While Nasarawa Amazons have won the Federation’s Cup, now AITEO Cup, once, their Rivers State’s counterparts, Rivers Angels, have won the oldest football competition in Nigeria for a record eight times out of nine finals they have appeared in, and currently stand as defending champions.

Ten Million Naira is the prize money for eventual winners of this year’s AITEO CUP for women, while the runners-up go home with Five Million Naira.

The match between Nasarawa Amazons versus Rivers Angels comes up at two o’clock in the afternoon, after which last year’s losing finalists, Kano Pillars of Kano, will square up against Niger Tornadoes of Minna at 4pm for the men’s final.
