Ashafa Unity cup donor, Inuwa says talents abound at the grassroots

The sponsors of the Ashafa Unity cup, Alh. Mohammed Inuwa Ashafa has called on the Nations football authorities and National team coaches to focus their searchlight more at the grassroots with a view to discovering football talents.

Inuwa, who is the PDP flag bearer in the forthcoming Local Governments election in Abaji area council of FCT expressed total satisfaction with the standard of play displayed during the torunament.

Fourteen teams particapted in this year tournament with Emirate FC defeating Mega stars FC by five unreplied goals in the final of tournament played at GSS Abaji secondary school.

Our man on ground, Mansur Abdullahi reports that Sanusi Muhammad scored the first goal in 2nd minutes of play through a well converted Penalty. Fahad Jimoh made it two and three in the 9 minutes and 32 minutes of play, while Sanusi completed the five goals thriller in the 52nd and 75th minutes.

The cup donor also used the opportunity of the occasion to state that football could be a veritable tool that can be used to promote peace,while also charging the boys to shun all manners of vices detrimental to the society.

Also speaking at the occasion, chairman of the FCT coaches association, Godwin Bamgboye heaped encomium on the donor of the cup declaring that such gesture is what is helping to engage the youths and keeping them away from the streets.

Bamgboye, who himself is an aspirant at next year’s FCT FA election promised to create an enabling environment for more of such competitions.

Reacting to his team performance at the tournament, Emirate FC Chief Coach who also double as the leader of the coaches council and also the chairman of Abaji local football council, Musa Yusuf first and foremost showered praises of Alh.Inuwa for sponsoring the tournament while calling on other politicians to emfrome his kind gesture.

He expressed total happiness with the performance of his boys in the competition declaring that they made him a very proud coach.
