Member representing Oshimili South in the Delta State House of Assembly, Barrister Bridget Anyafulu has made a passionate appeal to Asaba indigenes living outside the state and abroad to join hands in the human, Social and infrastructural development of the state capital Territory

Speaking as a special guest of the Asaba Development Union (ADU) Abuja chapter, during their Annual Thanksgiving ceremony during  the week at Holy Rosary Catholic church, Wuse Honourable Anyafulu said that Asaba has grown to a cosmopolitan city and such growths required all hands on the deck to meet the demands of development adding that government cannot do it alone.

She urged Asaba men and women to come home and join in the capacity building of the state capital adding that  their exposure, experience and financial capacity will definitely help in the development of the city in the areas of social, educational and infrastructure

She lamented that youths in Asaba and environs have taken to sex hawking and illicit drugs as past time because they are jobless and out of school, stressing that all hands must be on deck to fight this social malaise that is wreaking havoc in the capital Territory

“Open sex trade and illicit drugs are not good examples for our youth. The situation gives me a lot of concern in view of the adverse effects they have on the society and mostly on our youths. These two vices of sex trade and drug abuse underlines the mental, physical and social well-being of the society

“My dear Asaba men and women if we ignore these vices being perpetrated by mostly our young men and women, we are heading for doom.  The importance of young people cannot be over emphasized because the future belongs to them. For this reason I am appealing to you to join hands in addressing this ugly trend” stated the former Delta State commissioner for women affairs

Honourable Anyafulu also revealed that she has sponsored a bill on illicit drugs and open sex trade in the state assembly expressing joy, that she has the support of the state governor His excellency Sherriff Oborevwori and the state assembly members in the fight to get rid of these vices.

Earlier, the president of Asaba Development Union, Abuja chapter, Sir Emmanuel Ijeh while presenting her with a recognition award commended Honourable Anyafulu for all the good work she has been doing for Asaba and in the territory even as he urged her to do more
