Edo state: Obazuwa Youths threaten war against the Ijaws

Youths from Obazuwa community in the Gelegele riverine Area in Ovia North East local government of Edo state are demanding the whereabouts of one Master Erhunmwunsee Bobby who they claimed to be missing since 25th of March, 2016, following s clashed between the community and some Ijaws agitators.

Speaking during a Mass protest by the youths of the community to the Edo state House of Assembly and Oba of Benin Palace, Godstime Aigbe said the Binis extraction in the Ijaws dominated riverine Area are peace loving people who do not want to be involve in their militancy activities.

Agbi said Erhunmwunsee  Bobby was one of the active youth in Obazuwa community who according to him vehemently refused to be initiated into the militancy activities of the said agitators.

He said Bobby also pre-inform him of the planned attack on him and his immediate family for not allowing their youth’s involvement in the activities of these Ijaw in the Area.

Aigbe said they had first protested to government house and around some major streets in Benin city in 2017 to register their annoyances against the Ijaws militancy in the Area.

“A lot of complaints and petition have been written to various authorities about the sudden disappearance of Bobby and some other youths in our Obazuwa in Gelegele since 2016, but till this moment no positive response from the relevant authorities, hence we have decided to take the bulls by the horn.”

“These same Ijaws in Gelegele axis had been troubling us in our land. In 2016 because some of our boys refused to join their notorious activities of militancy, they have been killing, kidnapping and vandalizing our pipe lines. All these criminal activities we don’t want. This Bobby house at 18 , Idueviomo street, Obazuwa community was raided and vandalized by these people. Since then most of our youth ran for safety and we can not find them and can’t say if they are still alive or not. Is like a misery. Looking funny and nobody is talking.

” Now, our problem is this, we are in Edo State House of Assembly and Oba of Benin Palace to register our complains again, else we will tell the whole world we are not fools, when you push a goat to the wall, it will surely fight back, that is the situation we are right now. “

At the Oba of Benin Palace, and the Edo state House of Assembly, the Speaker, and some palace chiefs assured the youths to help get to the bottom of the matter.
