The English Premier League looks to be embracing new changes in virtually all seasons and It is gradually becoming a norm for the captains of each club to don a rainbow color armband on match days.

The noticeable change didn’t start this season though but it looks to have been more encouraged in the 2021/2022  season.

The big question is why are the captains wearing a rainbow-coloured armband instead of their usual color of choice of white, black, and the rest.

The answer is not far-fetched, the rainbow color armband symbolizes all races, and it is a means of passing messages in football that racism is not welcomed.

The rate at which players are subjected to racism chant, online abuse, and all other abuses in their forms all in the name of playing football, that is why the rainbow armbands are encouraged so that perpetrators will know that the game does not support racism.

Aside from the captains, some club players and match officials also use lace of multi-coloured for their boots.

Another reason why the rainbow-coloured armband is encouraged is for a message to be passed across that football is for every individual, be it a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and discrimination is not welcomed.
