The Federal Government and organised labour have reached an agreement on the consequential adjustments in wages of officers on Grade Level 07 – 17, following the new National Minimum Wage of Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00).
In reaching the agreement, the benefitting categories of officers were classified under two – Group 1 (core civil servants), comprising CONPSS), and Group 2, comprising CONHESS, CONRAISS, CONTISS II, CONUASS II, CONMESS, CONTEDISS and CONPCASS.
Presenting the Memorandum of Terms of Settlement reached at the end of the conciliation meetings on the consequential adjustments, Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, stated that under Group 1 (CONPSS), officers on GL 07 would have a salary adjustment of 23.2%; GL 08, 20%; GL 09, 19%; GL 10 – 14, 16%, and GL 15 – 17, 14%.
For the second group, he said that officers on GL 07/Equivalent would have an increase of 23.2%, those on GL 08 – 14/Equivalent would have their salary increased by 16%, while officers on GL 15 – 17/Equivalent would have a salary adjustment of 10.5%.
The memorandum of terms of settlement was signed on Government side by Acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, and Director, IPPIS, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Olusegun Olufehinti, (FCA); and on Labour side by Acting Chairman, Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Comrade Simon Anchaver, and Secretary General, JNPSNC, Comrade Lawal A. Bashir.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, William Nwankwo Alo, and Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), Sir Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle signed as witnesses to Government, while Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, mni, and Trade Union Congress (TUC) President, Comrade Quadri A. Olaleye signed as witnesses to Labour.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, OON, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN were the Chief Conciliator and Deputy Conciliator respectively.
