The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has embarked on a sweeping overhaul of its high command, with the redeployment of 162 senior officers and the appointment of new Zonal Commanding Officers, Sector Commanders, and a spokesperson in a move aimed at strengthening operational efficiency nationwide. The strategic shake-up, approved by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, is described as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce discipline, improve performance, and accelerate road safety outcomes across the country. Under the restructuring, four Assistant Corps Marshals were appointed as Zonal Commanding Officers to oversee key operational zones. They include C.Z. Mathew for RS5HQ Benin, A.L.O. Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri was elevated from his previous role as Deputy Corps Public Education Officer to lead the Corps’ communication strategy, with a mandate to enhance public engagement and awareness on road safety issues. Mohammed said the postings were guided by merit, experience, and the demands of national service, stressing that the FRSC would continue to deploy its most capable personnel to positions where they can deliver optimal results. He charged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate renewed commitment, professionalism, and strategic focus in their assignments, while reinforcing the Corps’ zero tolerance for traffic violations and preventable road crashes across the country.
The redeployment, according to the Corps leadership, marks a decisive step toward repositioning the FRSC for greater impact in road safety administration and enforcement.
