The Nigerian Defence headquarters has stated unequivocally that they have uncovered plans by some groups to disguise in military gear to orchestrate havoc and disrupt this weekend elections in some of the states.
To this end, DHQ has maintained that they are adequately prepared to neutralize any mischief makers.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buda made this known while briefing journalists on the activities of the Nigeria military the last one week.
He said: “Our message to such a group is that there will be injurious consequences for such an action. The military will not fold it’s arms and watch it’s image dragged to the mud.
“For the off season elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States this weekend; here is a message for you: The military is deployed in strength for the election to emplace a safe environment for voters to peaceful come out and cast their votes.”
You may want to recall that these states, particularly Imo and Kogi states have been characterized by pre-election violence which has resulted in the death of several supporters.
