Lagos agog with Olympic Day celebration

The 2019 edition of the Olympic day celebration organized by the Nigeria Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Nigeria Sport For All Commission witnessed a large turnout as participants from all works of life joined exercise and mark the day.

The day featured sporting events such as marathon, jogging and aerobics, demonstration by the skipping rope federation and, Tug of war to commemorate the day.

The Olympic day witnessed the participation by people of all ages and groups, and certificates were issued to participants. Secretary of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC),  Olabanji Oladapo described the day as a success and was even excited to see the level of participation which he said indicates that sport is a unifying tool for people from every tribe and religion.

“in terms of participation we had an increase this year, next year will be bigger as we are just using this year to measure the level of interest. We are organizing this event to promote unity, to let people know that sports doesn’t discriminate”  Oladapo said.

The Olympic Day event is not a competition to win prizes, but to serve as a reminder that sports holds a lot of promise in helping mankind to be healthy and also for everyone to come together to make the World a better place.
