..,……As NECA, NLC, FG Confirms Osakpamwan Eriyo Leadership
The leadership of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria( RTEAN), is worried over delay in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between its Union and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for the movement of logistics on the forthcoming general election.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on media to the Union Executive President, Ben Ogbemudia, and made available to www.theajasanews.com, he said the Union is bothered by the delay because the election is fast approaching.
Meanwhile, Mr Ogbemudia clearified the fact that their is no leadership issue in Union saying the new RTEAN leadership has has so far received endorsement from the ministry of Labor and productivity and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association NECA.
He noted further that since these bodies had written to the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, identifying with the current leadership of RTEAN he wondered what is then the reason for the delay in the signing of the MOU.
Ogbemudia said privilage information gotten from some of the Aids to the INEC chairman confirmed the receipt of the letter of endorsement from the Minister of Labor and Productivity. He then expressed surprise why they have not been invited to do the needful, more so that their sister Union had since been called upon to sign their own MOU.
The RTEAN president spoke person also noted that the Nigeria Labor Congress is fully in line with the new leadership as was confirmed by Comrade Benson Upah of Nigeria Labour Congress who categorically endorsed Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo’s leadership.
“We want to say that the leadership of RTEAN in Nigeria is not in doubt. If you come to our National Headquarters in 4B Arusha Crescent, Zone one Wuse , you will see Comrade Osakpamwan Eriyo and his Executives in office. What else do you need to proof who is authentic or not? If there is another person they INEC know, they should tell us. We are waiting patiently for them to call us to do the needful. Ogbemudia concluded.
