The Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) has announced its programme of activities for the 2026 season alongside the appointment of a new national technical crew, in a move aimed at strengthening the development of archery in Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on January 6, 2026, activities will begin with a NAFED Board Meeting in January in Abuja, followed by Nigeria’s participation at the Nîmes Archery Championship in France on January 16. Other major events on the 2026 calendar include the Annual General Meeting in March, the Hyundai Archery World Cup series in China and other host nations, the Africa Archery Championship in Algiers, the World Archery Field Championship in Yankton, USA, and the World Archery Coaching and Technical Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The programme also features national and grassroots events such as the National Open Championship, Under-17 Youth Championship, National Archery Club Championship, Para Archery Championship, beginners’ training camps, public archery enlightenment programmes, and a proposed National Award Night in December.
In the same release, NAFED announced the appointment of its new technical crew, led by Aliyu A. Garga as National Head Coach and Sholademi Damilola as Director of Technical. Others appointed include Ms. Hauwa Bindar (Deputy Director Technical), Aliyu Abubakar (National Captain), Ms. Gambo Buba (National Event Coordinator), Ogunlana Seun Ibrahim (National Club Coordinator), Umaru Abdulhamid (Director of Training) and Mohammed Ado (Director, Institutional Sports).
NAFED President, Alhaji Mohammed B. Abdullah, urged the appointees to remain committed to the growth of archery, expressing confidence that the 2026 programme will further boost the sport’s profile locally and internationally.
