Nasarawa police commissioner orders manhunt for kidnappers of permanent secretary

The permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Housing in Nasarawa State, Jibrin Giza, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his resident in Shabu, a few killometers away from Lafia, the state capital.

The commissioner of police M in the state, Bola Longe, who confirmed the incident in Lafia said the gunmen stormed the resident of the permanent Secretary in the early hours of Sunday in Shabu and took away the Permanent Secretary to an unknown destination.

Longe said the police is on the trail of the kidnappers even though no contact has been established.

Nephew of the kidnapped Permanent Secretary, Suleiman Bashir, also said that no contact has been establish with the gunmen.

Bashir stated this in an interview at the resident of the permanent Secretary in Shabu.

He said the kidnappers came to the house on motorcycles and jump through the fence and took the permanent Secretary to an unknown destination.

He said the gunmen rejected money earlier offered to them in the house.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police in the state, Bola Longe, has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of Police and the Divisional Police Officers in the area to comb the bush and rescue the permanent Secretary unhurt.

Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, in Nasarawa State,  Dogo Shama also said that the state government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the permanent Secretary regain his freedom.

However, the residence of the kidnapped permanent Secretary in Shabu continue to witness influx of sympathizers.
