NASARAWA TOURISM COMMISSIONER VISITS KANGIWA…. GETS NOD FOR MANPOWER TRAINING

Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) received in audience, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Mr. Shammah Dogo at the Headquarter office of the Institute in the efforts to fine tune plans for capacity building of the state’s tourism personnel.


Receiving Mr. Dogo in his office, Kangiwa reiterated the importance of personnel training and professionalism in the hospitality and travel tourism industry for any government to make meaningful headway in the growth and development of its tourism potentials as a viable sector of the economy.


Kangiwa noted that Nasarawa state is greatly endowed with vast tourism resources waiting to be harnessed for the socio-economic benefits of the people, and to effectively do this, the state needs trained and competent personnel, ‘reason why training of its tourism staff becomes imperative’ he added.


He said NIHOTOUR is prepared to mobilize its staff and the necessary resources to carry out training of tourism staff of the state, particularly on tour guiding as promised during a recent visit to the state by the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

In his statement during the visit, the Nasarawa state Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Shammah Dogo said the purpose of his visit was to fine tune modalities and logistics that will enable NIHOTOUR conduct an effective training of the state’s tourism staff for optimum results.


Mr. Dogo said Nasarawa state is glad to have the rare opportunity been offered by NIHOTOUR to have the state tourism personnel trained as professional tour guides, noting that it will go a long way in boosting the manpower needs of the state as well as enable it tap from the state’s vast tourism potentials for socio-economic gains.


It would be recalled that during his recent visit to the state in company of the NIHOTOUR Director General, Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture promised Nasarawa state of federal government’s support to effectively harness and grow the state’s tourism resources especially in the area of capacity building.
