Nigeria Ambassador in Italy, H. E. Mfawa Abam led the role call of dignitaries that were present when board member of the Nigeria Archery Federation, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu’s daughter, Mariabenedicta Chigbolu’s wedded in Italy on Saturday.
Members of NIDOE, Italy chapter were also on ground to add colour to the wedding that attracted even top Athlete from the Italian Athletics Federation. Notably Athletes like, Alice Mangione, Raphaela Lukudo and Davide Re, the high jumper Claudio Stecchi were in attendance.
Others were Enrica Spacca, Marta Milani, Isalbet Juarez, Giulia Latini, Jacopo Marin.
Mariabenedicta got wedded to Matteo Galvan, both top athletes representing Italy. Her coach, Marta Oliva was not left out of the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
Top Italian Politicians, business men and friends of the family were also there in their large numbers at the wedding that took place at the church of Santa Maria in Portico, in the Campitelli district, the heart of the capital.
Speaking with www.theajasanews.com, the proud Nigerian father expressed how joyful and emotional he was watching her daughter getting married to her lover of many years.
In his short word of advice to them, Ambassador Chigbolu told the newly wedded couple to be mindful of the fact that marriage is an everlasting project that must be approached with the fear of God.
“I told them that they have been running 400meters individually and successfully before, but from today they have started a longer race together that should have no end, they must put in all the qualities of a good sportsman, Love, passion, determination, respect and fear of God in their union in other to succeed.
Ambassador Chigbolu thanked the Nigeria Ambassador, H. E. Mfawa Abam and other Nigerian dignitaries who were present for the wedding for honoring him and my wife.
“I cannot thank them enough for the respect shown to me and my family. I want to thank the Italian dignitaries also, and most especially members of the Italian Athletics Federation.
“I want to use this opportunity to also send my special appreciation to the board members of the Nigeria Archery Federation for all their calls and messages,” Ambassador Chigbolu concluded.
You may want to recall that Mariabenedicta Chigbolu is the grand daughter of the great Julius Chigbolu who won several international and National laurels in the 50s and 60s.
