He stressed that as a matter of fact, no private school is allowed to operate without an adequate facilities for pupils to carry out sporting activities. He also noted that there regular sporting competitions for all the caders of the schools.

Speaking further, Ehiedu state, “In Delta state, sports is not only at home here, but sports is already an indegene,”

Charles Aniagwu, also called on Nigerians to maximise the virtues exhibited in the National Sports Festival amongst various groups to further consolidate on the love, unity, and peaceful coexistence in the country.

The Commissioner, who noted that the State is currently a concomitant of Nigerians living in one state and the atmosphere is congenial for all to live. He advocated same to be extended to other aspects of the national life.

Aniagwu, stared this during media chats with journalists on situation of things in the 21st edition of sports fiesta at the Media Center of the Stephen Keshi Stadium venue of the biennial multi – sports meet at the weekend. He  pointed out that if Nigerians could adopt the model of the National Sports Festival, which over the years had successfully brought together contingents of the 36 states of the federation and the FCT in a competitive environment, the country would be better and greater for it.

“We seem to have undermined the instrument of sports in our country and that is the reason why Delta State adequately prepared for the hosting of the sports festival and since the commencement of the games, I have been following and monitoring various events at different venues to ensure that identified challenges, which were normal in events of the magnitude of the National Sports Festival, were promptly addressed. Report whatever you feel to your leader and we shall attend to your needs.

He however enjoined journalists covering the games at the different venues to help in drawing the attention of government and the organisers to whatever challenges identified for necessary action. He stressed that athletes should explore the laid down medium of communication in channeling their grievances to appropriate quarters.

The communication expert pointed out that out of 38 sporting events, Bayelsa are competing in 36 games and about 24 games had already produced medals. “We still have some events in the game that are yet to be concluded, with Delta in very comfortable lead in the medals haul. Delta state is not only the state to beat in the biennial sports meet, but had also become an indigene of Delta state.”

Aniagwu who expressed satisfaction by the way the media practitioners and other officials have been conducting themselves covering various events with utmost professionalism, then thanked the media and officials at different levels.

“The athletes and spectators, whose conducts and cooperation had made the modest plans of the state government for the festival seamless and largely successful. We hope Nigerians will extend this love in our national life” Aniagwu appealed.
