One feared dead, motorcyclist Injured as container crush bus, bike in Lagos

One person has died and another injured in a multiple automobile accident which occurred late Thursday at Ascon bus stop in Orile Iganmu area of Lagos.

The unfortunate incident led to the death of one person and leaving another seriously injured.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Response Agency, LASEMA, it’s Response Team in a recovery operation late Thursday at Ascon bus stop, recovered a truck conveying two loaded 20 feet containers, which collided with a commercial vehicle, crushed a motorcycle and in the process, killed one adult male, injuring the other.

The accident, which occurred due to loss of vehicular control by the truck driver of a loaded double 20ft containerized truck with unknown registration number, has led to the death of 38-year old conductor of the commercial LT bus known simply as Saheed, leaving the injured motorcyclist with varying degrees of injuries.

Preliminary  Report on the Ascon bus stop truck accident has it that, “Upon arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a loaded double 20ft containerized truck with unknown registration number lost control while in motion and collided with a commercial LT bus with registration number AAA-504XT and a motorcycle with unknown registration number, thereby obstructing free vehicular activities.

“Unfortunately, the conductor of the commercial bus (Saheed aged 38yrs) lost his life at the scene and the bike man sustained different degrees of injury but have been taken to the hospital.

“LRT and Police are responders at the scene of incident working together to evacuate the accident containerized truck and bus off the road.

“The accidented containerized truck, commercial bus and motorcycle have been recovered off the road and taken to Orile Police station. Road now free for vehicular activities, operation concluded,” the report read.
