Nigeria on Tuesday continued her dominance over South Africa in the football event of the 12th Africa Games as their U-20 male side defeated their South Africa counterpart by two goals to one in a match played at the ASFAR Sports center, Rabat, Morocco.
Though, the South Africans put up a good fight but fell short in several areas as the Nigeria side took advantage to power in two solid goals in each half of the match.
The Flying Eagles number 7 jersey, Yira Collins Sor opened scoring in the thirtieth minute but the South Africans equalized through Offentse Johannes Mashiane in the 56th munite of the tension soaked match. And so desperate to secure the win, the Nigerian side pilled the pressure on the South Africans and it paid off in the 76th minutes when team captain, Abubakar Ibrahim laid a pin point pass to Abubakar Ghali Ahmad to score the winning goal.
Attempts by the South Africans to equalize the goal proved abortive as the young Nigerian solidly defended the lead till the end of the match.
With this victory Nigeria has brighten their chance of moving to the next round of the competition though they must have to avoid defeat in the hands of the host country, Morocco in their last group match.
You may want to recall that the Nigeria U-20 side were to a one all draw in their first by Burkina Faso
