The Youth and Sports Minister, Mr Sunday Dare has directed for the immediate recall of the Technical Director of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Sunday Adeleye from the ongoing 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
A statement from the ministry noted that Minister was constrained to take the swift decision against the AFN Technical Director due to avoidable massive and unacceptable technical and administrative lapses that brought much embarrassment to the nation.
He further directed that the Ministry will commence an immediate investigation as to what led to the ugly development at Doha.
Consequently, the Minister also directed that the AFN Technical Director hand over all matters relating to the ongoing IAFF World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar to the Secretary General and return to the country within 24 hours.
