…….Calls for level playing ground

National Vice President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in charge of the North Central zone, Alhaji Dan Musa Mohammed has cautioned those fanning the ambers of crises in the forthcoming states FA elections in the zone and particularly in Nasarawa state to desist from such act capable of destroying football in the state even as he called for a level playing ground for all aspirants.

The SWAN National VP who made it clear that he is a critical stakeholder having been in the game for quite some time, played the game, administered sports and of course reporting the game described what is happening the FA elections particularly in Nasarawa is outrageous.

“I served in the electoral committee that conducted the election that brought in the outgoing board when they held their election at Nasarawa Eggon where the leadership emerged. To my greatest surprise, the same people that contested in that election four years ago and lost are now disqualified outrightly. Actually it raises eyebrow.”

Mohammed argued that the disqualified aspirants are stakeholders, active members of the football family adding that a lot of them own clubs, spend their hard earned money in football and that one would have expected that they all have a level playing ground.

He regretted that the Alkali led board rather encouraged the opposite and all the communication reaching there was no reason advanced for disqualifying the nine aspirants.

“It is very outrageous. Of course, we are expecting the FA as a body to come up and give us the reason but as it were now, I don’t want to preempt the NFF because I learnt their petitions are already there but my call as a critical stakeholder is that the NFF should ensure that everyone aspiring is given a chance.”

He called on the state FA to have a rethink and stop the dirty game that would cause chaos in Nasarawa state as a whole and football in particular because it would not do anyone any good.

The SWAN VP argued that as a leader, Alkali and his board have spent four years and should have achieved one or two things they should present to the delegates to win their votes rather than disqualifying all nine aspirants and emphatically stated that it is outrageous and unacceptable because there is no spirit of sportsmanship.

“I am not contesting for any position, I am not with any camp but I want the people to understand that the whole world knows that football is a media event and as the custodian of the sporting media in in the entire North Central zone comprising seven states including Nasarawa as my base, I am an authority and a critical stakeholder, so I am speaking from my conviction that the process leading to the state FA election negates the principles of level playing ground.”

He also seized the opportunity to task the states in the zone and FCT to refrain from jeopardizing the future of football in the areas and called on the NFF to come out clean and address the problems and avoid instigating crises in the states by supporting people with inordinate ambitions.
