The Office of the first Lady of a State is unique and saddled with much responsibilities.

Such responsibilities include but not limited to taking care of the girl-child structure in the state, running Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), feeding the less privileged, raising important policies which will be approved by the legislatures, etc.

However, there’s one state in Nigeria whose Governor doesn’t concur with the policy of the office of the First Lady although he has wives that can step in into the office. The State is Yobe, governed by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

According to a report from Aljazirah news, the Governor’s Spokesperson, Yusuf Ali stated that although the Governor married a third wive immediately he was sworn in as Yobe State Governor in 2019, that doesn’t make him to use the state meagre resources to do the marriage ceremony.

Infact he has the right to marry four wives as a Muslim and according to Islamic rites. The idea of no first lady in Yobe State is for effective and judicious use of the State funds.
