The Chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has charged traditional rulers in the council to ensure they safeguard government infrastructure within their domains and environs.

The Chairman spoke during the commissioning of Doctors and Nurse’s Quarters at our Primary Health Centre, Apo Dutse by Rotary Club District 9125 on Wednesday.

Maikalangu, who was represented at the occasion by the Supervisory Councilor of Health, Hon. Faoye Tunji Toye, stated that royal fathers should collaborate with the State Government in guarding jealously all infrastructural amenities provided by the Council which is for the betterment of their communities.

The Chairman said that the government would not rest on its oars in bringing infrastructural development nearer to the residents, saying that the present administration was committed to running an inclusive government by using the communities as springboard for social and economic development.

“Today’s gesture is an indication that Rotary Club are still in the business of saving lives by providing furnished health Centers and Quarters for Doctors and Nurses on call, to make sure that health workers are comfortable in their work places.

“This is their own way of giving back to the society where they operate. It is observed that the morale of some of our Doctors and Nurses is so low due to lack of Quarters where they will rest before going back to the clinic.

“Some of them have to monitor their patients overnight. Our duty as government is to continue providing all the necessary support and encouragement to ensure maximum output of our Health workers.

“I commend the Rotary Club, District 9125 Apo Dutse, for providing Health Care services to humanity.

“They are in the fore front of making Nigeria a polio free nation, by providing funds for Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), championed Roll Back Malaria, providing potable drinking waters in our villages and lots more. I want to charge the Doctors and Nurses in our PHCs to put in their best in the discharge of their duties.

“You must allow integrity and hard work be your guiding principle. We are quite aware of the risks and challenges involved in this task, but be encouraged by success you will be recording at the end of the day.

“Let me use this medium to draw the attention of our traditional rulers who are custodians of our culture and tradition, women leaders, youth leaders and other stakeholders to assist the government in ensuring peace and stability in our communities and protect this Primary Health Center.

” I will like to acknowledge the generous contributions of all our partners and call on other spirited individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the Rotary Club in providing corporate social responsibility services to our various communities where they operate.

“As a government we pledge to provide enabling environment for you to thrive”.
