Two Other State Elections APC May Lose Before 2023

It may not yet be over for the All Progressives Congress. The party recorded a big loss in Anambra State even though the party thought the poll would be a walkover. While the APC is counting its loss, there are two other state elections that the party may lose.

Andy Uba and his party thought that the defection of top politicians, including Stella Oduah and the current deputy governor into the APC, would enable the party to taste power in Anambra. The results proved otherwise and they both lost the election.

The All Progressives Congress risks losing Osun State. Osun would go to poll in 2022, but all is not well with the leadership of the party in the state. Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola would be seeking another term in office, most probably. But he has an axe to grind with his predecessor, the interior minister Rauf Aregbesola.

Rather than working together, they are working on parallel lines to the extent that The Osun Progresives (which is loyal to Aregbesola) conducted a parallel congress in the APC state congresses. Mr. Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola used to work together. However, things aren’t in any good shape.

The People’s Democratic Party is resurging in the state and the opposition party is working on winning the poll. And if the PDP continues to maintain its full forces and APC is struggling to keep its house in order, it is most certain the APC will lose the next gubernatorial election.

Ekiti State will go to poll next year as well. Normally, it would have been unimaginably easier for the APC. But the fact that Mr. Kayode Fayemi won’t be on the ballot papers makes it more difficult. The ticket of the APC will cause more division within the APC fold.

A group, the Southwest Agenda, which is responsible for Bola Tinubu’s interest has stated clearly that the camp of the former Lagos State governor would produce the Fayemi’s successor. Mr. Dayo Adeyeye made this disclosure. This will be the genesis of APC loss in Ekiti State.

The question is: will Kayode Fayemi fold his hands to see a faction present the APC candidate? Of course, he will struggle for his interest. And this will surely clash with the faction which is loyal to Bola Tinubu. The aftermath is that the APC risks losing Ekiti State election.
