Member of the Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee, Inuwa Shariff has debunked the news in circulation that himself and two other members were jubilating as the Super Eagles fluffed the 4 0 advantage to end the crucial encounter in four all draw.

Describing the news as baseless rumour and fake news, the Kano State Football Association boss said if there was any Nigerian who bemoaned the outcome of the match, he is the person.

He noted that his desire was for the Super Eagles to win the Sierra Leone’s Stars convincingly with a wide margin so as to give his son a worthy wedding gift.

He maintained that the outcome of the match spoiled his joy and affected the celebration of his son’s wedding.

“It is quite a pity that some people derive joy from spreading not only fake news but malicious news just to create divisions in the board. How can anyone say that myself, the first Vice President Barrister Seyi Akinwumi and my good friend Alhaji Ahmed Fresh Yussuf were celebrating when Sierra Leone equalized. It is uncharitable to say the least. “

The Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee noted further that being an important member of the board, he deserved the honour and privilege of the federation being represented at his son’s wedding and which was why the high powered delegation led by the first Vice President was in Kano for the wedding.

The Kano State FA Chairman who during a telephone interview with us charged the Super Eagles to make mince meat of the visitors wondered why he should be happy that the Super Eagles did not win.

“What would be my reason for wanting our team to lose the match? This is a big question for those spreading falsehood and fake news. But one thing is certain, they have failed in their bid to create crisis where there is none.”
