Just recently, the captain of the Super Eagles senior national team, Ahmed Musa, has disclosed that this is the last time he will be playing in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament. It was gathered from a reliable source that Musa stated this during a press conference ahead of the Super Eagles’ opening fixture against Egypt on Tuesday. According to Musa, he will participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar if Nigeria qualifies. However, he would retire before the next AFCON.

The former Leicester City man has been a regular for the Super Eagles since his debut in September 2010. His first AFCON was in South Africa in 2013 and Nigeria won it, while his second appearance was in Egypt and they won the bronze.” The 29-year-old has featured in two World Cups, and he is currently Nigeria’s highest goalscorer in the competition. In the course of his playing for Nigeria, he has netted 16 goals including four at different World Cups.
