The 2nd National Anti Corruption Marathon has received yet another boost with a leading private institution of higher education, Nile University of Nigeria joining the team of partners to make the race a memorable one.

Responding to the speech by the national Coordinator of the race and CEO of Fair Play International Sports Agency, Mr Jacob Onu, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Osman Nuri Aras said corruption is a global cancer which must be fought to a standstill.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for spearheading the fight noting that the slogan “If we don’t kill corruption, this corruption will kill us” is a statement of fact that must propel everybody at every level to join in the fight against corruption.

Prof Aras also noted that the duty of every institution of higher learning goes beyond academic which is the reason Nile University of Nigeria has made discipline in all areas of life a watchword for the students.

“For us in Nile University our responsibility goes beyond preparing our students academically. We prepare them to become the best in the society in all ramifications and as such discipline is our watchword.”

He argued that it takes discipline to avoid corruption and maintained that Nile University will encourage its students to participate in the race.

Speaking earlier,  the national coordinator, Jacob Onu said one of the aims of the National Anti Corruption Marathon is to use the image and popularity of marathon to bring together all segments of the country’s population in support of Mr President’s fight against corruption in all facets of our national life to foster unity.

While reeling out the numerous partners that made the first edition a huge success, Onu canvassed for partnership, participation and support from the university for the 2nd edition billed for Monday December 9, this year.
