Again, FG performs ground breaking ceremony of affordable housing for 116 civil servants

In a bid to ensure that Civil Servants in the Nation’s Capital City of Abuja own their houses with relative ease, the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday,19th January,2023 carried out another ground breaking ceremony of affordable housing for additional 116 Civil Servants under the Federal Integrated Staff Housing(FISH) Programme in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola while performing the ground breaking exercise on behalf of the Federal Government disclosed that the present Administration has successfully completed several affordable and decent housing programmes for different categories of Civil Servants across the Country.

According to him, the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari has in the past over seven years paid close attention to the welfare of Civil Servants in the country in a deliberate move to get the best out of them.

He further revealed that the current Administration has consciously ensured that the 28 Federal Secretariats in the country are given facelift in order to give Civil Servants decent and comfortable working environment.

In his part, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello remarked that the FISH Programme, which is the component of the welfare pillars of the FCSSIP-25 will significantly promote job satisfaction and enhance staff productivity.

Malam Bello who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola expressed satisfaction on the involvement of the Private Sector in real estate development in the Territory, describing the initiative as a trusted model in the provision of affordable housing.

The Minister however, cautioned the Developers involved in the development of the FISH Programme to ensure that they abide by the extant building regulations in accordance with the provisions of the FCT building codes and the Abuja Masterplan. Warning that the Administration would not tolerate any form of distortions of building plans.

On her part, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade  Yemi-Esan appealed to the Minister of FCT to allocate more lands for the purpose of the FISH Programme to alleviate the accommodation  challenge  of Civil Servants.

Dr. Esan who assured Civil Servants across the country that government would continue to provide affordable housing for them, urged the Developers to work round the clock in order to deliver on record time.
