Wuye based Pace Setters Collage has emerged the over all winners of the maiden edition of the 2019 YSM Abuja School Games.

Pace Steers Collage won with a total number of 18 medals: 7 Golds, 4 Silver and 7 Bronze to narrowly push Total Child Model School to the second position.

Total Child Model School also won a total number of 7 gold medals but fell short in the Silver and Bronze medal haul, winning only 1 Silver and 2 Bronze.

Coming third on the official medal table as released by the 2019 YSM Abuja School Games organizers was Central Emirate International Academy with 5 Golds, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze medals.

Below is the comprehensive medal table of the Games which came to an end on Friday at the Moshood Abiola stadium.


2019 YSM Abuja School Games Medals Table:

1. Pace Setters College – 7 Gold, 4 Silver, 7 Bronze.

2. Total Child Model School  – 7 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze. 

3. Central Emirates International Academy – 5 Gold, 5 Silver, 8 Bronze.

4. Divine Mercy School – 5 Gold, 3 Silver, 5 Bronze.

5. Doveland High School – 3 Gold, 7 Silver, 5 Bronze.

6. Nigeria Ghana International College – 3 Gold, 6 Silver, 1 Bronze.

7. Kingsville College – 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze.

8. Bankys Private School – 3 Silver.

9. Capville School – 2 Silver, 4 Bronze.

10. Tophills School – 1 Bronze.

Speaking with www.theajasanews.com, chief organizer, Olayinka Suleiman expressed joy with the successful conduct of the Games despite all the initial challenges and hiccups experienced before the commencement.

“I also so joyful that we were able to pull it through. It was not easy but God has really helped us. I want to thank all the participating schools, they were so lovely, the Sporting Federations who supported us, individuals that also showed support in one way or the other, and particularly the Ministry of Youth and Sports for allowing us to make use of one of the most beautiful stadium in Africa.

“What more can I say than to assure Abuja residents that the second edition will definitely be far better. We have noticed the mistakes we made in this first edition and we will certainly improve on them in the subsequent editions. For sure YSM Abuja School Games has certainly come to stay and it will only get batter,” She concluded.
